How to Do a Facial at Home: The 5-Step Kit Guide
A parlour facial is lovely, but it costs time and money every month. The good news: with a proper facial kit you can do a complete, professional-style facial at home in about 30 minutes. Before You Start
Remove makeup, tie your hair back and wash your hands. Keep a clean towel, cotton pads and a bowl of clean water nearby. Clean skin matters: a facial on dirty skin only pushes the dirt deeper. If your skin is very sensitive, test a little product behind your ear first.
Step 1: Cleanse
Massage the cleanser over your face and neck for 2 to 3 minutes using gentle circles. This removes dust, oil and leftover makeup and opens the way for every step after it. Wipe off with a damp cotton pad or rinse and pat dry.
Step 2: Scrub
Apply the scrub on damp skin and massage very gently for 2 minutes, avoiding the eye area. The scrub lifts dead skin cells, which is what makes the face look dull and rough. Do not press hard; light fingers give the best result. Rinse well.
Step 3: Massage Cream
This is the relaxing heart of the facial. Massage the cream upward and outward for 8 to 10 minutes. A good massage boosts blood flow, which brings a natural rosy glow, and helps the skin absorb the cream’s goodness. Add a few drops of water if the cream starts to feel dry.
Step 4: Face Pack or Mask
Spread an even layer of the pack over the face, avoiding eyes and lips, and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes until it sets. The pack tightens the look of the skin and draws out deep impurities. Remove with a damp sponge or rinse gently.
Step 5: Polish and Finish
Finish with the skin polish for that smooth, bright finish parlours are famous for. Follow with your usual moisturizer, and sunscreen if you are going out. Your skin may look slightly flushed for a short while; that is normal after a facial.
